Go Green

Go Green (Classes V – VI)

"Its not enough to prepare our children for the future we must prepare the future for our children."

The aim of this project is to introduce nature to the concrete jungles created by us using simple, inexpensive, affordable techniques. The students will explore and learn to create and use Green Architecture such as Vertical Gardens, Green roofs as an efficient, cost-effective way to gain the wellness benefits of Green Space, which are required not only for our physical health but also go a long way in improving our emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Showing Powerpoint Presentations to the students

A powerpoint presentation was shown to the students to remind them of our dependence on Earth for sustenance and livelihood. They were advised to "Go Green to Breathe Clean" by setting up community garden, promoting air purifying plants in household and neighbourhood and by creating beautiful terrace gardens.

This presentation left a positive impact on the students urging them to beautify their environment.

Visit to Terrace Garden of the President of Indraprastha Horticultural Society
Under British Council ISA Project, students of Class 6th visited the beautiful terrace garden of Mrs. Rachna Jain, The President of Indraprastha Horticultural Society. The students were totally mesmerized and basked in the beauty of the visual treat presented in the form of nature's beauty on the terrace. Mrs. Rachna Jain was a very gracious host, so much so that the children just wanted to stay there and not go back. She told the children about the different types of plants and how they can be displayed beautifully using recyclable material. The children were very inspired by her demonstration of tray garden and looking forward to making their own. The visit was very refreshing and informative for the students.

Students of classes 5th and 6th of Universal Public School under ISA British Council took an initiative to sensitize the need of today's time go green through rally. Our young saviors of Mother Earth to create awareness and arouse the passion for saving the environment by the mission Go Green. They took out a rally in the school premises to sensitize the other students about the importance of green and clean Earth. The students carried placards and self made planters using waste material to spread the message. The rally was a great success to spread awareness among the students.

Visit to Terrace Garden in Madhuban, Delhi
Students of Class 5 visited the beautiful terrace garden of Ms Krishna Gupta in Madhuban on July 13, 2019(Saturday), under the British Council ISA Project. The terrace garden was a green heaven with a large variety of plants : aquatic, cacti and succulents, vegetables, fruit trees, bonsais, flowering plants.. The students did hands on activity " Pot Planting" under the guidance of Indraprastha Horticulture Society. They were gifted the pots planted by them. The visit concluded with a refreshment party by the members.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms Krishna Gupta, Ms Archana, Ms Sudha, Ms Seems, Ms Savita and of course Ms Meenakshi whose teaching skills are enviable.
