Feelings (Classes I – II)

The aim of this project is to develop emotional skills in children as they grow up, paving the way to a happy and healthy life. Feelings are an integral part of every individual's life and by learning to identify their emotions and feelings, and also how to process them, the children can experience a positive change in their behavior. If they are able to correctly recognise their emotions and what's causing them, it will be easier for them to manage difficult situations. The first step is to learn vocabulary about feelings, so the little ones can acknowledge them and then can act accordingly.

LEARNING ABOUT PARTNER COUNTRIES

A Powerpoint presentation about the partner countries Australia and United Kingdom was shown to the students under the ISA project "Let's Talk about Feelings".

LETS TALK ABOUT FEELINGS : INTERACTIVE SESSION FOR STUDENTS

An interactive session was organised as part of ISA British Council Project – 'Let's talk about feelings' wherein the children shared their experiences as to when they feel happy, sad, angry, excited and jealous. They were also taught to understand their feelings and respect others feelings too.

STORYTELLING BY STUDENTS

Feelings are an integral part of every individual's life. We all feel desirable and undesirable emotions. Through value based stories children were exposed to different emotions and feelings. They were taught how to manage them and build a healthy relationship with their peers and family.

Students also narrated stories with the help of headgear and props to express their feelings.

PUPPET SHOW

As a part of ISA project- "Let's Talk About Feelings" a Puppet Show was organized for classes I & II. The title of the show was 'Feelings'. The students within the school were involved by a group of artists from Sangeet Natak Akademi under Ministry of Culture. It turned out to be a very successful activity as each one of them was involved and expressed their feelings.

ENACTMENT: LETS EXPRESS OUR FEELINGS

As a part of British Council ISA project- "Let's Talk About Feelings" students participated in 'Enactment' activity with great zeal and enthusiasm by expressing their gesture of feelings with the help of flashcards.

VOCABULARY BANK

Vocabulary serves as a fundamental tool for communication and acquiring knowledge. Vocabulary improves all areas of communication. To improve the vocabulary of the students an activity 'Vocabulary bank' was done as part of ISA British Council project 'Let's talk about feelings', in which the students wrote different words related to feelings. Having a rich vocabulary will help the children to communicate In a more engaging way.

FLASH CARD MAKING

The students of classes I and II made flash cards of different feelings and emotions as part of ISA British Council project – 'Let's talk about feelings'. They enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically.

POEM RECITATION

As a part of British Council ISA project- "Let's talk about feelings", the students came up with different poems on the topic- feelings and recited them with great zeal, enthusiasm, expressions and rhythm.

PUPPET MAKING

As a part of ISA project – Let's Talk About Feelings a puppet making activity was organized. Children prepared paper puppets with the help of guidelines given by their craft teacher. They enjoyed while making different moods for each face. It was fun time for them. Now they can justify with every gesture.

COLLAGE MAKING

Students participated in collage making activity as a part of ISA British Council Project 'Let's talk about feelings'. They gathered information about the partner countries Australia and United Kingdom.

QUESTIONNAIRE

As a part of British Council ISA project- "Let's Talk about Feelings" a 'Questionnaire Activity' was conducted for the students of class II in which worksheets were given to them having questions to express their feelings of happiness, sad, angry and jealousy. Children had written very interesting answers and showed their writing skills. Overall, it was a successful activity.

ROLE PLAY

As a part of ISA project- Let's Talk About Feelings students of class I presented a group song and individual presentation based on different feelings carrying flash cards in their hands to show the audience how do they react on feelings wherein class II students were given different characters belonging to Australia and united kingdom. They were dressed up as royal members and national symbols of partner countries. These activities enhanced the confidence of the students on public speaking. These activities also helped in critical thinking skill and cooperative learning skill. It was an integrated approach towards the theme.

WORKSHOP ON UNDERSTANDING FEELINGS AND HANDLING DIFFICULT EMOTIONS

A workshop on understanding different emotions and how to manage anger was organised.Various activities like role play, meditation, thinking of situations which make us happy and unhappy were performed by the students. Instant stress removal techniques were applied on them, majorly SBLR technique which means stop, breathe, listen and respond. Moreover, the children asked a variety of questions from Mrs. Bahl. The purpose of the workshop was to help the children understand and manage their feelings and also, develop a sense of understanding and the necessity to respect the feelings of others as well.
